The lifespan of ice depends greatly on the ambient temperature. That is, ice will last longer in low ambient temperatures than high after production. Therefore storage is necessary to ensure that the ice plant caters for peak demand. Ice storage allows the ice machine to be operated 24 hours per day. It also acts as a buffer to the ice supply in case of interruptions such breakdowns and routine maintenance procedures.

Tube ice bin for immediate ice packing

The tube ice machine runs automatically on a time cycle, approx 20 minutes including18 minutes' ice making time and 2 minutes' doffing period per cycle. Packing the produced ice in such a short time can prove to be difficult. The tube ice bin is in place to temporarily store up the ice as they drop from the machine. The ice is delivered from the ice-maker to the bin by screw conveyors. This bin can be seen as a buffer store and connects to ice packing machine at other end.

Crushed Tube Ice is the most effective cooling agent for ready mixed concrete production. The ready mixed concrete can be cooled as low as 19 ℃ in a hot summer day.
